Miss Piggy Gets Adopted!

Miss Piggy finds her perfect home

In our last newsletter, we featured Miss Piggy,  a black and white cat who had scars on her back from being burned by hot oil. Since that issue went out, Miss Piggy was adopted into a loving family. We asked for an update from her adopter, Candice Miles, who provided a glowing report.

Miss Piggy loungingCandice says Miss Piggy has been queen of the castle from the moment she arrived in her new home. “She is very smart and very well behaved. She doesn’t attack furniture (something I was worried about) and you usually only have to tell her no once or twice before she knows that something is off limits,” said Candice.

When asked how she found out about Miss Piggy, Candice said she had been looking for a cat for two or three weeks, coming up to PetSmart, when she really noticed her. She says, “There were a lot of other cats at the center and Miss Piggy didn’t stand out to me much at first.  I felt sorry for her but I was afraid she’d need extra care from a vet.  I came up for about a month and seeing that no one had adopted her yet, I was curious.” Candice played with her and that was it. She began to fall for her. “She has so much personality and a beautiful face. I honestly stopped noticing her scars.” After she found out more about her, she discovered she and Miss Piggy have some things in common and Miss Piggy seems to be quite happy with her.

Miss Piggy’s scars essentially look the same.  Just dry skin, not too sensitive, and she lets her put cortisone on them when they get too dry. She doesn’t seem to notice the scarring.  She lets off a bit more heat so she gets cold easier because there is no fur on such a large section of her back.

Candice doesn’t have any other animals but her aunt adopted Elsie (one of our older kittens) and she was a very good hostess.  Candice says, “She didn’t hiss or try to hurt Elsie (they were separated, but with glass doors on the room that Elsie was in, so they saw each other the whole time.)  She only hissed or growled when Elsie did it first or if Elsie was acting threatening.” She thinks Miss Piggy would get along fine with another animal but she plans to lavish all of her attention on Miss Piggy for the time being.

Miss Piggy playing with a toyWhen asked about her personality, Candice says she is a lot like her, independent but very loving. She won’t sit on her lap but she wants to be near her. She follows her around the house, talking to her in a really neat trilling sound. When she comes home from work, if it’s been an eventful day for Piggy, she’ll meet her at the door and meow until she’s told her all about her day! She is still a very opinionated little cat, expressing her likes and dislikes. She doesn’t like wet food or treats and if she tells her no to something she really wanted to do, she usually gives Candice a dirty look.

Candice says Miss Piggy is definitely not a lap cat with her, but she adores her fiancé.  When he comes over she curls up with him right away, which is really nice. Fortunately, the admiration goes both ways. In the near future, Candice’s fiance will be looking for a companion cat for Miss Piggy, maybe one that will curl up in Candice’s lap! Candice has decided to join the NBCR volunteer ranks as a cage cleaner in 2009.

“Miss Piggy is such a blessing and I couldn’t have asked for a better kitty!” Candice says, “She has a home with me forever.”

I love the picture of her in the hammock chair. Thank you so much for sharing with me. She was so trusting when I found her to come to me that quickly so I figure that is how she became hurt. I thank God that she has found a loving home to share in her cute-I-ittude!
